Cocktail Hour with J.K. Places

We can’t stop talking about Italy. This summer, the la dolce vita feeling is strong and Italy is king.

And it’s hard to talk about Italy, especially with our friends at J.MAK HOSPITALITY (curator of insanely gorgeous hotels, with personality to match) without talking about the J.K. Places – chic, intimate and the ultimate home-away-from-home by hotelier, Ori Kafri, with properties in Florence, Capri, and Rome.

It didn’t take long until we started reminiscing about sitting at the terrace of the J.K Florence, right in Santa Maria Novella square, sipping their signature Wildberry Mojito. As the end of summer is only a month away, we thought there’s no better way to prolong our Italian dreaming then by mixing up J.K. Places’ signature drinks at home.

J.K. Wildberry Mojito | J.K. Place Firenze

.5 lime, cut into 4 wedges
2 tablespoons brown sugar, or to taste
1.5 oz white rum
5 blackberries
4 raspberries
5 fresh mint leaves
1 cup of Crushed ice
.5cup of club soda
1.5 oz of vodka

Directions: Place mint leaves, one lime wedge, three blackberries, two raspberries into a sturdy glass. Use a muddler to crush the mint, the berries and lime to release the mint oils and lime and berries juice. Add 2 more lime wedges and the sugar, and muddle again to release the lime juice. Do not strain the mixture. Fill the glass almost to the top with the crushed ice. Pour the vodka over the ice, and fill the glass with carbonated water. Stir, taste, and add more sugar if desired. Garnish with the remaining berries and mint leaves using a skewer.

Mr. Bellavista Spritz | J.K. Place Roma

1.5 oz Domaine de Canton
2 dashes of orange bitter
2 leaves of fresh mint
Splash of ginger beer
Bellavista GC brut 2010

Directions: Pour all the ingredients, except for the Bellavista GC brut, over ice. Gently stir with a spoon. Garnish with a physalis and flambè of orange essence. Serving glass: white wine glass.
