Property Overview

Heckfield is a living place: a Georgian family home lovingly restored to its classic origins and rewoven into the sprawling Hampshire landscape. Elegantly evolving, resolutely natural, it's a beautiful piece of English history that redefines the idea of a hotel. The estate springboards from a storied past, celebrating the slow-and-simple now: a country haven — less than an hour from London — sculpted over centuries by ancient heather, woodland, and meadow. Everything here begins with the soil. The estate’s biodynamic Market Garden and organic Home Farm, walled gardens, and orchards feed chef Skye Gyngell’s epicurean alchemy, bringing the outside joyfully into the Green Michelin-starred Marle and the open-flamed Hearth restaurants. This connection to the land threads through to the expansive space of wellbeing, The Bothy by Wildsmith, unearthing a place to reconnect and realign with nature's pace.

Accommodations

A grandeur that is intimate and familiar.

In the rooms, Heckfield’s grandeur quickly becomes intimate and familiar. Their individual character — from the Friends Rooms to the spectacular Signature Rooms — is written in the natural materials and craftsmanship found throughout all five categories. All are beautiful; however, those from the Master Room upwards offer the most space. To secure a place in the house, a Signature room should be reserved.

The Friends Rooms are beautifully simple, located along the corridors, on a more intimate scale, and each with views onto the surrounding gardens. Cozy and perfectly formed, the Guest Rooms are nestled within the house and corridors, each offering views of the surrounding gardens. Spacious and airy, the elegant Chamber Rooms, each with stunning views of the gardens, offer the perfect place to relax and explore. The beautiful and spacious Master Rooms offer generous living areas, each with a different aspect across the gardens, truly offering the best of Heckfield. The discrete and spectacular Signature Rooms tell their own story, offering a connection to Heckfield’s history and a uniquely personal experience. These include the Long Room, Heckfield’s most magnificent living space, offering complete seclusion, unrivaled views across the lakes and grounds, and grand spaces for entertaining under a Georgian vaulted ceiling.
The Lake Room is positioned in the heart of the house, and offers a separate sitting room and a sweeping bay window that offers a breathtaking panorama of the lakes and estate. The Heath Room is one of Heckfield’s most secluded corners, nestled in the top of the house, a divine hideaway with aspects to the east, south, and west, and views across the lakes and beyond. An intimate candlelit sitting room welcomes you into the understated style of the Coppice Room, with its delicate palette of sage and dusty rose, and views across the upper and lower lakes. The Ochre Room exudes a sumptuous color scheme, an emperor bed, views across the west lawn, and a magnificent marble bathroom.

Escape to the countryside and the peace and quiet of a cottage in the grounds of the Heckfield estate. Church Lodge is a black and white timbered gatehouse, tucked away amongst its own gardens, with a gentle palette and embroidered detailing connecting to the surrounding landscape. Connecting options include Lake Room, Master Rooms, Friend Rooms, and Guest Rooms.
Pool + Gym

Bringing the outside in.

Look up, and beyond: Under a natural light-filled canopy, the chlorine-free pool waters reach out into the tamed and gently wild landscape. Bringing nature into the magnificent space, the glass wall peels back when the weather behaves, bringing the outside in.

The Bothy by Wildsmith features a carefully selected range of fitness equipment incorporating classical design. Cardio equipment and weight training tools are on hand for an optimal full-body workout. Movement Space I is a light-filled cardiovascular center with equipment for an optimal full-body workout: a Peloton, Technogym range, including Skillrun Live 19, cross trainer, cycle, and free weights. Movement Space II is a haven-like personal training space designed for one-to-one and one-to-two sessions. It also features a Technogym Kinesis Personal Vision, Nohrd WaterRower Rowing Machine, punch bag, and free weights.

The Movement Studio and Terrace is a space for up to six guests, hosting a range of holistic classes. Opening onto an outside terrace dotted with plants, the estate's reconnection with nature is key in allowing you to take the classes – such as Farm Fit, Trail Runs, Wild Swimming, Forest Bathing, and more – outside when the weather is kind.
Spa

A return to a simpler time.

The expansive space of wellbeing, The Bothy by Wildsmith, returns you to a simpler time at the heart of Heckfield's hidden landscape. Wander through the secret door of the walled gardens; free your mindset, reconnect, and realign to nature's pace. Rhythms are reset in this special place through Wildsmith treatments inspired by the universal principle of circadian rhythm, time spent in the chlorine-free pool waters, thermal and hydrotherapies, and the culinary alchemy of the Sun Room.
Restaurant + Bar

Simplicity, the seasons, and a sense of place.

The estate’s biodynamic Home Farm, walled gardens, and orchards feed chef Skye Gyngell’s epicurean alchemy, bringing the outside joyfully into the Green Michelin-starred Marle and the open-flamed Hearth restaurant. Food and drink here celebrate simplicity, the seasons, and a sense of place.

Nestled in the center of the house, the Moon Bar is the most intimate of meeting places, where you can unwind and indulge in a unique cocktail or explore the collection of specially selected spirits. One of the signature cocktails is the Clear Mary: a take on a Bloody Mary made with clarified tomato juice made from tomatoes grown on the farm.
