The Fifth Avenue Hotel

New York, United States

A Gilded Age landmark reborn in the energetic heart of Manhattan.

Property Overview

Opened in 2023, The Fifth Avenue Hotel occupies one of Manhattan's most storied addresses, spanning two buildings – the Mansion and the Tower – with 149 rooms and suites overlooking the Empire State Building, NoMad, and Fifth Avenue itself. The hotel is as much an art experience as a place to stay: adventurously curated works hang salon-style throughout, and every object invites a second look. Award-winning Chef Andrew Carmellini oversees the restaurant, and the whole place carries a warmth that's rare for a hotel of this scale, the result of collaboration between some of the most creative minds in art, design, gastronomy, and hospitality.

Agent Tips

  • The Portrait Bar's carved stone fireplace and salon-style art collection make it one of the more atmospheric spots for a drink in NoMad.
Accommodations

Gilded Age glamour with a bohemian twist.

The hotel's 149 rooms and suites were designed by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio, drawing on the neighborhood's history and the building's heritage to create something that feels more like a well-traveled private home than a hotel, embracing bohemian romanticism and the glamour of the Gilded Age in equal measure. Expect a rich palette of garden greens, buttercup yellows, and peony pinks, with bold patterns that somehow all get along. Pagoda-style lamps, custom wardrobes with nods to traditional Chinese cabinetry, antique inlaid side tables, Murano glass chandeliers, and star-like ceiling lights complete the picture. Select rooms open onto private terraces.
Pool + Gym

In-house equipment and a roster of neighborhood studios on the house.

The fitness room is open around the clock and equipped with Technogym machines, a Peloton bike, a Lululemon Mirror, and free weights. A stay here also means you'll receive complimentary access to an impressive lineup of nearby studios: Life Time Fitness, SoulCycle, Barry's Bootcamp, Humming Puppy Yoga and Meditation Center.
Restaurant + Bar

Thirty years of cooking expertise distilled into a restaurant.

Café Carmellini is the signature restaurant from James Beard Award-winning chef Andrew Carmellini. Here, Chef Carmellini distills his thirty-year cooking career in New York City into an extraordinary fine dining experience, the food a marriage of Italian and French cooking updated with a more modern, New York feel.

The Portrait Bar is a handsome room with dark wood paneling, a carved stone fireplace, and quite the impressive art collection. Pull up a seat for a well-made cocktail and some bar bites, and you may not want to leave. Up on the second level, The Study and The Conservatory offer a change of scene without straying far.
  • Vibe
Where bohemian glamour meets Gilded Age grandeur, right in the heart of Manhattan.
  • Who's it for?
We love The Fifth Avenue Hotel for design obsessives, art collectors, and anyone who wants a central Manhattan base that doesn't feel corporate. It's a strong pick for special occasions and milestone trips, with Café Carmellini an easy choice for a celebratory dinner, while the NoMad location puts you close to some of the city's best restaurants without the chaos of Midtown. Couples and solo travelers with an eye for interiors will feel right at home.
  • Location
Sitting at the northwest corner of Fifth Avenue and 28th Street, The Fifth Avenue Hotel is well-placed for getting around the city in either direction. The Empire State Building, The Morgan Library & Museum, the Flatiron Building, and Madison Square Park are all within easy reach. When it comes to dining beyond the hotel, the neighborhood delivers: Eleven Madison Park, Atomix, Keens Steakhouse, KazuNori, Gramercy Tavern, and Eataly are all nearby.
