Shaped by a childhood on a remote Pacific island and a career in the arts, Kathryn creates thoughtful journeys rooted in cultural connection, curiosity, and deep respect for the places we visit along the way.
Kathryn’s relationship with travel began long before it became her career. She received her first passport stamp at just six weeks old and spent much of her childhood in the Solomon Islands. Growing up on an island only a few miles wide, she experienced both the beauty and fragility of place firsthand, in turn, developing an appreciation for the responsibility that comes with exploring the world at a young age. Living in a close-knit island community gave her a global perspective and a lifelong belief that travel can foster understanding, empathy, and meaningful human connection.
Before co-founding Freya Travel Co., Kathryn built her career performing on Broadway and acting in television and film, then found herself in luxury travel with SmartFlyer’s Brand Team. The arts taught her the importance of storytelling, attention to detail, and creating experiences that stay with us long after they’ve ended—an approach she now brings to every itinerary she designs. As a travel advisor, Kathryn specializes in honeymoons, family adventures, and multi-generational journeys, all crafted with a love for experiences that pair exceptional hospitality with a strong sense of place. Her goal is simple: to make travel feel effortless, so clients can focus less on logistics and more on the people, places, and experiences in front of them.
One of my favorite travel memories happened in Morocco while driving through the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech to Skoura. Along the way, our group spotted these little wooden boxes built into the mountainside and asked our guide what they were. He explained that local families used them to produce honey and casually mentioned that we could stop for a tasting if we wanted; the group was immediately on board! A few minutes later, we were standing on the side of the road, sampling different local honeys and learning how the region’s wildflowers and plants influenced each one’s flavor. It ended up being one of the highlights of the trip and a great reminder to me that sometimes the most memorable experiences aren’t the ones on the itinerary; they’re the unexpected discoveries that happen when you stay curious, leave a little room for spontaneity, and say yes!
If I could hop on a flight to Paris every week, I absolutely would. I’ve always been drawn to its creative spirit and effortless elegance, but what I love most is that every visit feels different. There’s always a new neighborhood to explore, or a favorite café waiting to welcome you back. It’s a city that continually reminds me that familiarity and discovery can coexist.
