Property Overview

Trinchera Reserve & Lodge is an all-inclusive retreat set within a 172,000-acre private conservation reserve in Colorado’s Sangre de Cristo Mountains. Spanning six ecological zones and three 14,000-foot peaks, the reserve sets the stage for a “High Alpine Safari,” with custom-designed, privately guided itineraries ranging from fly-fishing and ridge walks to backcountry expeditions and overnight stays at remote outpost cabins.

Despite the vast landscape, the property remains intimate, with just sixteen guest rooms in the main lodge and two multi-bedroom Reserve Residences. Days spent exploring are balanced by chef-driven dining, a dedicated wellness center, and fireside time in the Great Room. Formed from the historic Trinchera and Blanca ranches and anchored by one of the largest conservation easements in U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service history, the reserve reflects a longstanding commitment to land stewardship. Its certified DarkSky setting makes evenings just as memorable, with remarkably clear views of the night sky.

Accommodations

Southwestern character meets the quiet of the high desert.

The Lodge features sixteen guest rooms designed by Jet Zarkadas and Jen Wilson of Los Griegos Studio, with interiors that echo the high desert landscape just beyond the windows. Warm Southwestern details, Western artwork, and thoughtfully sourced vintage pieces lend each room a lived-in sense of history rather than a manufactured “lodge look.”

For groups looking for more space, Trinchera also offers two multi-bedroom Reserve Residences: Cat Mountain House and The Lake House. Set along the edge of a mountain lake, The Lake House includes a main house and guest house, plus a great room, game room, and wraparound porch overlooking Trinchera’s three 14,000-foot peaks.

Gym

Movement comes with a view of the Colorado wilderness.

The Schoolhouse Cabin houses Trinchera’s fitness center and is also the setting for yoga classes. The gym includes a Peloton, an elliptical, and a treadmill for workouts between days spent hiking, riding, fishing, and exploring the reserve.

Traditional treatments, hot tub soaks, and sauna sessions offer a restorative counterpoint to days spent exploring the reserve.
