Agent Tips

  • Must do on-property activity: walking along our private sandbank in the morning.
  • Must do water activities: diving and sunset dolphin cruise.
  • Must try on-property wellness experience: a treatment at COMO Shambhala retreat.
Suites + Villas

Authentic, calming, private and understated.

There are only 33 overwater suites and villas on Cocoa Island which gives the entire island a bespoke, private feeling. Each room has its own private terrace, which allows you direct access to the water and incredible views of the horizon. The largest room category, the COMO Villa, features two bedrooms.

The style and design of their overwater suites and villas are like that of no other luxury resort in the Maldives. Uniquely inspired by dhoni boats—the gently curving wooden vessels used by local fishermen—COMO Cocoa Island’s rooms arc out from the island itself. Simple wooden walkways built above the shallow lagoon connect them, forming a sinuous boardwalk pathway.

Each room has its own private terrace, all the better for slipping into the warm Maldivian sea, right from your room. The view from the wide platform is directly out to the watery expanse and horizon. Interiors are dominated by whites and blues, with only the subtlest nod to a certain local rustic aesthetic.
Pool + Gym

The island wellness center is the embodiment of philosophy for healthy living.

There is one 25m infinity-edge swimming pool on the island as well as a hydrotherapy pool, but don't forget to have a swim in the expanse of beautiful clear blue water that surrounds you. There also is a gym on with weights and cardio equipment. The yoga pavilion and indoor gym include classes such as complimentary yoga classes and hydrotherapy pool sessions.
Restaurant

Modern menus, light and steeped in the nuances of South Indian, Asian, and Mediterranean cuisines.

The island's sole restaurant, Ufaa, serves all meals. Guests have the option of dining indoors or out, which is lovely. There are themed dinner nights several times weekly, ranging from seafood to Indian and everything in between. Ufaa offers South Indian favorites alongside Asian and Mediterranean classics. They also feature the COMO Shambhala cuisine, which incorporates organic ingredients for those who prefer healthier options.
Spa

Wellness with a view.

The COMO Shambhala Retreat has three single massage pavilions with an outdoor shower garden and one double massage pavilion with outdoor shower/tub. This spa is incredible; we did one of the Ayurvedic massage treatments here which involves dousing you in oil pre-massage. The oil that they use is created depending on how you answer a series of questions prior to the beginning of the treatment.
  • Bar
Faru Bar is an easy-going, foot-in-the-sand resort bar where the inventive bartenders put together refreshing cocktails (and mocktails). Fine wines, classic cigars and light snacks also feature, alongside some easy beats at sunset. Faru Bar is open from 10.00am until late, adjacent to the infinity pool and leading directly to the beach. Happy hour cocktails are served daily from 5-6pm. Signature drink: Bay Breeze.
  • Who's it for?
The property is tailored for couples and dive adventure seekers. While the resort accepts children, be mindful there isn't a dedicated kid's program. This is truly a romantic paradise!
  • Location
COMO Cocoa Island, known locally as Makunufushi, was COMO’s first private island resort in the Maldives. Located among South Malé’s coral atolls, it is just a 40-minute speedboat transfer from the international airport in Malé, the island nation’s capital. With its crystal clear lagoons and soft sandbanks, COMO Cocoa Island is known for having one of the best beaches in the Maldives.
