Raised in Kenya with British roots, Claire has travel in her blood, Africa in her soul, and is now raising her two American children to be citizens of the world.
Growing up with a Scottish mother and Kenyan father, Claire was educated in the U.K. but spent a great deal of her childhood traveling between London and Africa. In her twenties, Claire found herself on a trip to New York and ultimately moved to the States permanently. In the decade-plus since her move, she has worked across many facets of the luxury hospitality industry. While the switch from hostels and the backpacking of her youth to luxury turndown and room service was gradual, her interest in seeking authentic experiences remains a constant and is what continually sets her apart as she works with clients to plan trips both close to home and halfway across the world.
Claire brings her wealth of personal experience, style, and passion for the African continent specifically to each and every itinerary. With her family maintaining a home in Kenya, Claire is fortunate enough to revisit different regions across Africa each year. On every trip, she makes an effort to experience some of the very best lodges and camps and continues cultivating relationships with the wonderful people who go out of their way to take care of her clients. From the souks of Marrakech to the dunes of Namibia and everywhere in between, she believes that the African continent has something uniquely special for everyone.
I love nothing more than being in Kenya, at my family home on the Indian Ocean. It is such a special and unique part of the world. Kenya’s beaches and coastal culture are often passed over with people either not having enough time, or indeed jetting off to the Seychelles (also fabulous, by the way!), but stick me on an old fishing dhow and send me down the creek flanked by stunning mangroves near my house and my soul just soars.
Recently, I was lucky enough to find myself climbing in the sand dunes of Namibia in complete awe. This destination was always on my ‘wanderlust’ mood board, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. What a wild and raw country! For me, seeing the desert-adapted elephants was an absolute dream.
Keep up with the places that deserve more than a bookmark, but a check-in.
