Katherine Swafford

With a deep understanding of the details that shape an incredible travel experience, Katherine utilizes her first-hand knowledge to build exceptional journeys for clients near and far.

When Katherine embarked on a summer study abroad program in college, her passion for travel was ignited. As a student from a small town in Georgia, this summer in Europe opened her eyes to just how vast the world was and how much there was that needed to be experienced. Prior to joining the travel industry, Katherine spent a decade traveling the world with her husband for both business and pleasure. These experiences afforded a deep understanding of the intricacies of both the leisure and business sides of the travel industry, which she now translates to planning trips on behalf of clients.

Combining her own first-hand expertise and diverse network of travel professionals, Katherine excels at anticipating the needs of her clients. While her own personal travel errs on the side of being meticulously planned, she understands the importance of identifying each clients’ unique vision for their trip, which oftentimes means building in time for spontaneity. Being able to diversify her planning methods for exploratory city escapes, relaxing beach vacations, and complex, bucket list trips is the key to delivering each clients’ dream itinerary.

When she is not planning her next adventure, Katherine enjoys the slow-paced life at home in St. Simons Island, Georgia with her husband and three children.

Which destinations or hotels do you go back to again and again?

Without a doubt, my favorite place in the world is Italy. I’m fortunate that my husband agrees! We have been countless times and each time we visit we fall more in love with the culture and culinary delights. My favorite part of revisiting places is being able to take a slower pace each time — oftentimes your first visit feels rushed with many boxes to check and sites to see, but each return visit allows you to really experience the destination and feels more like a vacation.

Which destinations are you looking forward to visiting? Why?

This summer, I am excited to take my oldest son to Portugal. While he has traveled often in his early life, I’ve been waiting years for him to be old enough to really appreciate a trip abroad. Being able to teach him about other countries and show him other parts of the world remains a top priority to me and I’m excited for this first adventure in Europe!

Travel Tip

  • Build sufficient down time into your itinerary. Often people feel they need to fill every moment of the day while traveling; some of my favorite experiences have come during an unplanned afternoon!
