Since so many of my travels were for work, I have to share how I decided to give an entire presentation in Portuguese when in Brazil. I speak Russian and the accents are similar, so I phonetically wrote out the presentation with a Brazilian colleague the night before over dinner. I was thrilled when the group laughed at jokes I included in the presentation–that’s when I realized they were understanding me and I was in a foreign country presenting in a foreign language! On a personal note, my favorite memory was my now-husband proposing to me in Paris–solidifying its place in my heart as the most romantic city in the world.
I love Spain, Portugal, and Europe in general, but I must have been a Princess in the Iberian Peninsula in another life because I feel an energy when I am in this part of the world I do not experience anywhere else. I think we all have “that place” in the world and I am so happy to have found mine and look forward to helping others find theirs.
Keep up with the places that deserve more than a bookmark, but a check-in.
