With a refined eye for detail and a passion for crafting meaningful travel, Valeria specializes in designing curated travel experiences that blend modern high-touch service, personalization, and a relaxed sense of discovery.

Valeria knows travel is a carefully curated balance between discovery, comfort, and meaningful connection to each destination. Based in Durango, Mexico, she combines her role as Director of Economic Development and Tourism for the region with a deep appreciation for travel as a way to connect with places, cultures, and experiences in a thoughtful, unhurried way. Her entry into the world of travel curation began organically, inspired by her own experiences and her natural ability to plan highly organized, visually inspiring trips. Recognized for her attention to detail and passion for well-designed journeys, she was invited into the hospitality industry based on her knack for creating meaningful experiences for her family, friends, and extended network.

Valeria’s travel philosophy centers on quality over quantity—favoring immersive itineraries that allow time to truly experience each destination. She enjoys discovering exceptional hotels, contemporary properties, standout culinary experiences, and authentic local dining, all without overloading itineraries or rushing between cities. Her personal travels have crisscrossed Europe, found her skiing the Rockies, and on safari from South Africa to Zambia. Valeria gravitates toward experiences that feel elevated yet approachable, avoiding overly traditional or formal resort styles. When clients partner with her on a trip, they can expect tailored journeys that reflect each traveler, balancing sophistication, comfort, and a strong sense of place.

What has been your most memorable travel experience to date?

One of my most memorable travel experiences to date was a journey I didn’t initially set out to fall in love with. It was a trip to South Africa and Zambia, and it turned into one of the most transformative experiences of my life. From the moment I arrived, I was deeply moved by the warmth of the people, the exceptional level of hospitality, and the way every detail was designed to create something truly unforgettable. The lodges were beyond anything I had imagined, where nature and luxury coexist so seamlessly that it feels almost surreal. Each morning, I found myself genuinely excited for the day ahead. I would think, “I never knew of a morning in Africa when I woke up that I was not happy.” The game drives were extraordinary, allowing me to connect with nature in its purest form while still enjoying some of the most refined hospitality I have ever experienced. There is something deeply spiritual about the continent—it feels like God visits everywhere else, but lives in Africa.

Which destinations are you looking forward to visiting? Why?

Two destinations are at the top of my travel list. Japan is at the forefront of what I am most looking forward to experiencing. I am deeply drawn to its culture, traditions, and the incredible sense of order that defines everyday life. I would love to immerse myself in its culinary world, where simplicity, precision, and quality come together in such a pure and meaningful way. From its cities to its more intimate cultural experiences, Japan feels like a destination that offers both inspiration and calm in equal measure. I am also very eager to return to Africa, this time to explore East Africa. Experiencing gorilla trekking and witnessing the Great Migration deeply fascinates me. After my time in Southern Africa, I know there is still so much more of the continent that continues to inspire me profoundly.
