Cozy Weekend Getaways from NYC

It’s officially that time of year where New Yorkers just want to be inside with a cup of tea and a good book. But, there are only so many weekends we can sit still before we need a change of scenery. So, our team rounded up a list of our top spots for quick cozy getaways that are tailor made for two.

(2 hours, 30 minutes from Manhattan)

Manhattan-based travel consultant Erina Pindar shares, “Nestled away in Upstate New York, Troutbeck is a hidden gem for couples wanting a cozy getaway. The property is intimate with just 36 accommodations, all beautifully designed; the rooms in the main house are more unique, while the rooms in the new builds are more modern, but they do look like they’re part of a collection, not disjointed at all.

The restaurant is farm-to-table, and they have great little cozy nooks everywhere and fireplaces to just hang out. The library has original books and was used by a writer who is researching the history of the area. Service is great as well! In terms of activities, the hotel has access to ski in the winter, skeet shooting all-year round and there are cute towns nearby for antiquing.” | Book Here >>

Getting There:

You can take the train up to Troutbeck via Metro North from Grand Central. Your final stop will be Wassaic, approximately 5-minutes from Troutbeck, where the hotel’s team will happily collect you from the station.

Mayflower Inn & Spa, Auberge Resorts Collection

(2 hours from Manhattan)

Over in Connecticut, travel advisor Michelle Jackson shares, “If you’re looking to pamper yourself and your significant other, look no further than the Mayflower Inn & Spa. Located in Washington, Mayflower Inn is best known as one of the areas most distinguished luxury hideaways offering 5-star accommodations and one of the finest spas in New England.

With a focus on mind, body and spirit, the spa offers personalized treatments including traditional massages, facials and mud wraps as well as wellness therapies. In preparation for what inevitably will be a hectic holiday season, Mayflower is offering a ‘Reawaken Inside and Out’ package that includes Reiki/Chakra balancing, yoga and a body treatment that will reawaken and rejuvenate you inside-out.” | Book Here >>

Getting There:

This a peaceful retreat – located on 58 acres of lovingly tended gardens and woodlands – is best reached via car. It’s approximately a 2-hour drive from the city.

Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa

(3 hours from Manhattan)

For the ultimate stay out east, NYC-based advisor Daniela Ratner shares, “Gurney’s is known as the iconic Montauk spot for a chic, trendy crowd. And while we love this Hamptons hangout in the height of summer, it offers such chill vibes in off-season. The property manages its public spaces very well and creates an intimate setting for all of the guests. Gurney’s features 146 rooms, suites, and beachfront cottages, all delivering dramatic ocean views. With five unique dining and drinking venues, Gurney’s presents an array of food and beverage options, from elegant seasonal cuisine to casual fare to craft cocktails.

The cooler months are the perfect time to take advantage of their world-class seawater spa equipped with a Roman bath, Finnish rock sauna, Russian steam room, and Swiss shower. While relaxing at the ocean-fed seawater pool, the panoramic views of the Atlantica are not to be missed—it’s the only one of its kind in North America.” | Book Here >>

Getting there:

Gurney’s is located in Montauk which is the easternmost (and furthest) town in The Hamptons. There are a few ways to get there, but a popular option is to take the Long Island Railroad and get off on the last stop (about 3 hours). You can also drive, but note that you will be subject to traffic. To reach Gurney’s by bus, take The Hamptons Jitney which leaves from various points across New York City. Lastly, if you’re feeling fancy, you have your travel advisor hook you up a heli via Blade!

Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center

(1 hour, 30 minutes from Manhattan)

Looking to the ‘City of Brotherly Love,’ NYC-based advisor Barrett Hollo shares, “Freshly opened in fall 2019, Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia at Comcast Center will have you never wanting to leave the city (or the hotel!). Located at the Comcast Center, the Four Seasons resides on the top 12 floors of the building giving all guestrooms breathtaking views over Philly. We love the suites so you can enjoy their extra-large and glorious deep soaking tubs. Plus, thanks to their partnership with Comcast, guests have an unlimited list of TV shows and movies (literally, thousands to choose from!) that you can enjoy at no additional cost…now that is luxury.

Snow in the forecast? Don’t worry, the Four Seasons has you covered. Head to the 57th floor to enjoy all the hotel amenities from their expansive gym, heated infinity pool, and impressive relaxation spa which holds hundreds of pounds of healing crystals behind its walls. We love adding another layer of healing power by getting their signature warm crystal massage and melt your cares (and the cold!) away. Be sure to check out JG Skyhigh on the 60th floor, right off the lobby. It’s by far one of the prettiest rooms I’ve ever been in with floor to ceiling windows and mirrors reflecting from the ceiling. This bar is always packed with locals and a great spot to take in the Philly skyline before heading to dinner. Pro-tip: try the Philly-cheese steak spring rolls, you won’t regret it!” | Book Here >>

Getting there:

Philadelphia often gets overlooked as a weekend destination from NYC but it’s just a quick hour-and-a-half Amtrak ride away and you have a whole new city with restaurants, art, and history to explore.

The Lodge at Woodloch

(2 hours, 30 minutes from Manhattan)

New Jersey-based advisor Abby Kastin recently chose The Lodge at Woodloch for a girlfriend’s 40th birthday, finding it to be the perfect cozy getaway tucked in the Poconos. She shared, “There were about ten of us and we all had a fabulous time! The spa which has been redone and expanded recently, was amazing. The services were fabulous and the atmosphere was relaxing. The Rosemary Awakening Body Treatment is especially recommended as it’s inspired by the healing powers of rosemary. It includes a body polish, full-body massage, warm seaweed wrap and a luxurious scalp massage. But truly, the food was a highlight; it is healthy and delicious with a lot of variety. And as an all-inclusive, you can eat as much as you want (which defeats the purpose of being healthy, I suppose!). Woodloch is the perfect quick getaway for a relaxing weekend close to home.” | Book Here >>

Getting There:

The Lodge at Woodloch is now offering door to door transportation for Manhattan and Metro Area guests staying a minimum of two nights. You will be sure to enjoy the journey as they manage the drive for you; relax in one of our luxury vehicles, while extending the enjoyment of your time away!

Equinox Hotel Hudson Yards

(0 minutes from Manhattan)

The hottest new property to open in New York this year, Equinox Hotel Hudson Yards is changing the landscape of hospitality as we know it. Austin-based travel advisor Amanda Poses stayed on property for a weekend getaway with her husband and returned absolutely raving! She divulges, “From the moment I arrived until the second I left, I was swooning over this hotel. I love the sleek and sexy feel. We arrived late and our check is was seamless as we were escorted to the elevator all the while getting a little intro, which was so helpful especially when arriving late. The rooms are truly incredible, each designed for the best night’s sleep with top-of-the-line technology.

While there’s so much to do and see in the city, felt as if I could stay at the hotel for the three days and not run out of things to do on property. Naturally, the fitness club and spa are absolutely not to be missed. Whether you want to hop into one of their fabulous classes or just enjoy the facility’s brand new equipment, being a member of the club is such a unique benefit. From your workout, I highly recommend a spa treatment; we tried both the cryotherapy to reduce inflammation and the wave table to feel even more well rested. To top it all off, my husband and I loved the dining outlets, especially enjoying the epic views from the 24th floor outside bar area. We had to keep reminding ourselves that we were in NYC! | Book Here >>
