…every detail of your stay is customizable, from reserving ski lift tickets to finding the most unique activities to experience the destination.

What’s more, between the support of your SmartFlyer travel advisor and our partners, every detail of your stay is customizable, from reserving ski lift tickets to finding the most unique activities to experience the destination. Elevate your experience by adding staff services such as having a butler, a private driver or a chef to prepare meals – any of which could have your $200US concierge credit, an exclusive Virtuoso amenity, applied against the service. And stay assured, during your stay, the Luxury Retreats’ team is available 24/7 for any last-minute requests or questions.

The Zermatt Lodge (Zermatt, Switzerland)

Home of the Matterhorn, one of the world’s most exclusive ski destinations, Zermatt is known not only for its ski trails but also its traditional mountain village atmosphere. The quaint core has a “no cars” policy, so you’ll hear the birds chirping each and every morning as you sip your coffee before hitting the slopes. Boutique shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs are all easy to find and within walking distance of The Zermatt Lodge.

Why we love it:

Sherman Estate (Lake Tahoe, California)

Famous for being one of the few places in the world where you can ski and swim in the same day, Lake Tahoe is the largest alpine lake in North America, covering almost 200 square miles and crossing the state line between California and Nevada. It’s also extremely deep (so much so that the Empire State Building could stand on the lakebed and be completely submerged!). And while the winter months see an average of nearly four feet of snow and fairly mild temperatures, there’s really no bad time to visit Lake Tahoe where 300 days of sunshine per year comes as standard! Lake Tahoe boasts a dozen ski and snowboard resorts, so you’ll be spoiled for choice when it comes to a winter vacation here. Some of the most well known are Northstar, Alpine Meadows, and Squaw Valley, each with something different to offer.

Why we love it:

Chalet Dalmore (Chamonix, France)

The French Alps offer miles and miles of runs, some of the best ski resorts in the world and perhaps most importantly, all the après bells and whistles you could wish for. It’s a place that truly earns the word ‘breathtaking,’ with its towering mountains shot through with magnificent glaciers, tumbling waterfalls and rushing rivers. There are views to drink in, hiking trails to strike out on and biking routes to conquer – plus, of course, all that delicious French cheese. If all that slipping, sliding and pedalling has left you in need of some serious R&R, then head to Saint Gervais les Bains, a small town between Chamonix and Megève. Renowned since the late 19th century as a place to ‘take the waters’, it’s where to go for a long, lazy soak. The town’s thermal baths have been welcoming visitors, who come to take advantage of their therapeutic properties, since 1807. The beauty of a home rental is that you have complete flexibility to explore as you wish!

Why we love it:

Village Walk 55 (Beaver Creek, Colorado)

Vail is one of the largest single-mountain ski resorts in the US, with 195 trails on more than 5,000 acres, a vertical drop of 3,450 feet and 31 lifts to take you up, up, up so that you can ride the adrenaline rush right back down. Vail was actually made for skiing – it was founded in 1962 by Pete Seibert and Earl Eaton and modelled on the ski resorts they saw in Europe during their time in the US Army in World War II, which is why as you wander round Vail Village you might be forgiven for thinking that you’ve been transported to a mountain town somewhere in Austria. But there is plenty to do here besides strapping on your skis – biking, hiking, white-water rafting, snowshoeing, skating, zip lining and more, all with the benefit of around 300 days of sunshine a year. So whether you visit during the depths of winter or at the height of summer, you’re guaranteed to have a good time on this mountain.
