In a time when we’re all cooped up and craving travel more than ever, we’ve been pouring our energy into all the little things we can do at home to spark joy before we catch that next flight.
Sure, there has been some Netflix binging and plenty of takeout orders from our favorite local restaurants. But beyond the changes to our daily routines brought on by self-quarantine, we continue to stay true to what fuels our community of Smarties, staying connected to the world around us. Throughout this unprecedented time as we aim to #flattenthecurve of COVID-19, our mission remains the same, to transport people to the places we love…even if only in spirit. As we reminisce about the destinations that have stolen our hearts, we’re getting creative about how we can bring elements from some of the most treasured hotels around the world straight to our homes.
1. Sink into an EDITION Hotels Robe
One of the first things we’re guilty of when checking into a hotel is checking out the robe situation. Fortunately, our SmartFlyer crew has had the chance to quality test many in our day and The EDITION‘s robe continues to come up as a favorite, thanks to its extra-soft microfibers and luxuriously plush terry inner liner. Oh, and did we mention the hood? It’s the kind of robe that will have you happy to stay in bed (ahem, working from home…) all day.
2. Dive into a Four Seasons Bed
Speaking of beds…there are few we get as excited to slip into quite like at a Four Seasons Hotel. It’s no wonder why, considering the company has spent the last fifty years in partnership with experts and in consultation with guests to perfect their mattresses. The result is their online store stocked with a fully customizable collection allowing you to choose your desired level of firmness, sizes up to a California King and any individual portion of the bed system or the full set, which includes the Four Seasons mattress, box spring and Signature topper. Basically, you know where to find us until social distancing is over!

3. Suds up like you’re at The Fairmont
In 2011, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts partnered with Le Labo to launch a distinctive in-room amenity rooted in the power to create genuine connections to places and people through scent. In the words of Sharon Cohen, Vice President of Fairmont Brand, “The compelling scent of Rose 31 connects guests to our hotels, no matter where in the world, and forms a lasting sense of familiarity long after each stay.” Outfit your bathroom in Rose 31 – the scent exclusive to Fairmont – for a chorus of warm, spicy, floral and woodsy notes. We just can’t promise that your family and friends in quarantine with you won’t also fall in love with the product, so, maybe buy two.
4. Hang African Wall Art straight from Singita
High-end design and an effortlessly chic safari aesthetic are trademarks of the Singita experience, and something that is carried through in all of the brand’s properties, whether classic or contemporary. As a guest at one of their stunning lodges, a highlight after your game drive is coming back to peruse their boutiques, thoughtfully filled with retail goods crafted by primarily African businesses. The team has now extended that shopping experience to their online catalogue, bringing this exclusive retail experience into the comfort and convenience of your home.
5. Sip on High Tea like you’re at the J.K. Place Firenze
Few hotel experiences are as calming as cozying up in the J.K. Firenze, your home-away-from-home in Florence. When we can’t be chatting over an aperitivo in the hotel’s stunning lounge, the next best thing is to set up some Richard Ginori porcelain and well, pretend. These delicately painted Florentine porcelain plates, cups, saucers, and serving dishes are like works of art perfected since the business was launched in 1735 by the Ginori family. Having them with you at home is truly the next best thing to being in Italy.
6. Stack Your Coffee Table inspired by Park Hyatt New York Manhattan Sky Suite
The unveiling of Park Hyatt New York’s Manhattan Sky Suite marked one of the most exciting new products to hit NY in recent memory. Located on the 59th floor, it’s the highest Central Park-facing suite on the city’s luxury hotel market. And while we can’t all call the 4,200 square-foot three-bedroom home at once, there are certainly elements of it you can bring into yours while we take turns! Beyond the stellar art collection curated by Erica Samuels, we adore the collection of Assouline books in the space. With plenty of time on our hands to get reading, there’s never been a better time to start that coveted coffee table collection.
