Aman Summer Palace

Beijing, China

"A peaceful retreat to have as your homebase when exploring the many exciting faces of China's capital."

City Family Culture

Aman Summer Palace showcases the design philosophy that Aman has made their own; they have taken a one-of-a-kind location and explored every facet of its history while offering a city escape. Once the domain of Empress Dowager Cixi, the 19th-century Qing dwellings that make up Aman Summer Palace have been carefully transformed into a calming, culturally connected destination. Comfort and a personal touch create a retreat that complements an ideal base from which to explore the Beijing surroundings. Beyond the Summer Palace grounds – accessed by a secret door for Aman guests – Beijing’s marvels await.

Tranquillity reigns in the blossom-strewn courtyards that connect sleek, tile-roofed suites; calligraphy demonstrations and tea ceremonies take place to the strains of music drifting from the adjacent opera house.

Rooms + Suites

The 51 guestrooms draw on a Ming Dynasty aesthetic, with polished Jin clay tiles, latticed woodwork and bamboo blinds. There are six various categories of accomodations; including Deluxe Pavilions which are the combination of two Deluxe Suites. We also love the Imperial Suite category which is made up of three separate pavilions: a private pavilion, a living/study pavilion and a formal pavilion for ample space.

Pool + Gym

The property has a large swimming pool for guests in addition to a fitness center where they offer pilates and yoga classes.

Below ground, the wisdom of Chinese healing meets with state-of-the-art design in the sleek Aman Spa. There are 9 beautifully appointed treatment rooms delivering Aman Signature treatments.

There are three restaurants on property. The Chinese Restaurant offers Peking duck and several imperial dishes, along with traditional Cantonese fare. The Courtyard Restaurants consist of two elegant dining rooms surrounding a tranquil reflecting pond. Each dining room is dedicated to a different cuisine. The Grill serves Western fare, specializing in a grilled-to-order selection of prime cuts of aged beef, lamb, game and fish. The Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

In Naoki, Chef Naoki Okumura serves original French Kaiseki cuisine which combines the best of French techniques with a Japanese sense of artistry. Food is prepared in an open kitchen where the guests can enjoy witnessing the dishes being prepared around a Japanese counter.

There is a bar near the reflection Pavilion with a great pool view where guests can enjoy a cocktail before dinner.

Who's it for?

A tranquil retreat that sits at the East Gate of the Summer Palace, just 15 kilometers northwest of Beijing’s city centre. Many of it’s unique suites and rooms are converted from historical dwellings and gives guests who stay at the hotel an authentic Chinese experience.
