Agent Tips

  • Take the short walk to Timoleone Café, an adorable garden spot with a great vibe, perfect for a casual lunch paired with a nice Negroni or glass of prosecco. Further down the street, there is also a custom-made sandal store where you can pick your style and they will make it for you on the spot!
  • The Greek Theatre is right across the sidewalk from the hotel; if there is a performance during your stay, you have to go.
  • Make time to spend one day hiking Mt Etna, the largest active volcano in Europe. It is stark and eerie and other-worldly but such an incredible experience. It is not an easy climb, but so rewarding and something you will never forget. Not only are there amazing sights to see, both above and below ground, but there are also some fantastic wineries to enjoy as well.
  • Staying here also gives you access to the Villa Sant’Andrea down the hill by the sea (with access to the beach and restaurant). The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle, but be sure to take the cable car and enjoy the view. You can also walk; there are lots of stairs but you walk past houses and a school and locals and it’s a wonderful way to feel a part of the neighborhood.
Rooms + Suites

Charming Sicilian touches and no detail left behind.

The rooms are beautifully decorated in “Italian light.” Fabrics are soft, gentle colors to match the sea and the garden but the style is undeniably Italian. Most rooms have views overlooking the gardens and rooftops out to the sea. There are also views overlooking the ancient Teatro Greco and Mt. Etna, the only active volcano in Europe. There are two buildings, the main building (with the best views) and Villa Flora.
Wellness

Handmade Sicilian soaps and local natural products.

There is a large outdoor pool in the garden with a poolside bar (in season) with drinks and food service. There is a small gym at GH Timeo and also one at their sister property, Villa Sant’Andrea, and guests can use both/either. You’ll want to spend as much time as possible at the pool, well-sized with full service and the same great views.

Nestled in five acres of garden, the intimate wellness center provides the perfect location for a relaxing massage. The spa incorporates local flower and fruit essences like Neroli Oil. Their signature treatment is Sicilian Sensations (80 mins). This exclusive treatment uses handmade Sicilian soaps and local natural products to create a truly sensual Mediterranean experience. The main ingredient is extra virgin olive oil, which is enriched with lava dust, pumice stone and a choice of essential oils extracted from the island’s fragrant flowers and fruits — prickly pear, tangerine, lemon, sweet almond, orange blossom or star anise. The treatment includes an exfoliating foot bath, a body cleansing with soap and a nourishing massage.
Restaurants

Exclusive Sicilian dining.

Dine on the terrace with views of Naxos Bay and Mt. Etna at the hotel’s elegant dining room offering traditional Sicilian cuisine and wines, or relax at the very casual poolside restaurant and bar. The menu includes traditional Sicilian dishes, but also creative and lighter fare using local Sicilian products.

Looking for exclusivity? Be one of just 16 guests each evening for a culinary sensation inspired by German painter and Taormina legend, Otto Geleng. Executive Chef Roberto Toro’s Michelin-star menu is a culinary riff on classic Mediterranean fare. Each dish is an enticing play on tradition and innovation. Savor every delectable moment as you admire the views that captivated Otto’s imagination
Bar

This is the place to be to watch the sun set over the sea

Enjoy panoramic views while sipping on an Etna Spritz or any other delicious cocktail that the hotel offers. During the day, indulge in granitas poolside Bar Timeo comes with some of the most amazing views of the moonrise over Mt Etna ever, anywhere.
  • Who's it for?
Belmond is absolutely a family-friendly brand, but we might recommend families with younger children stay at Villa Sant’Andrea as you are right at the beach; while families with older children would love the location at the Timeo for the ability to walk right into town.
  • Location
A minute's walk from the Greco-Roman Teatro antico di Taormina, this refined hillside hotel with dramatic views of Mount Etna and the coast is also 3 minutes’ walk from the 14th-century Palazzo Corvaia.
