Property Overview

Since the opening of the Grand Hotel in 1873, the Bürgenstock Resort is a legend thanks to a combination of many firsts and iconic names. The resort housed many celebrities: Audrey Hepburn got married here, Charlie Chaplin was a regular guest, and Sophia Loren and Carlo Ponti made the resort their home. This is also where the first electric funicular railway in Switzerland and the highest outdoor lift in Europe were built. Situated 500 meters above Lake Lucerne, the Bürgenstock Resort offers a unique view of the lake and the Alps. There are many ways to get here, but we love arriving here by shuttle boat and funicular. Start off from Lucerne along the deep blue lake, and then take the funicular railway straight to the lobby of the Bürgenstock Hotel.
