Decor that marries vintage pieces with custom-designed furnishings.

Each of the 147 luxury rooms and suites at Downtown L.A. Proper was designed to be residential in feel, with hand raked plaster walls, richly woven textiles in neutral tones, and inspired decor that marries vintage pieces with custom-designed furnishings. Their suites are one of a kind, including one with a pool in the living room and another fashioned from a vintage basketball court. All are appointed with imported linens, custom designed robes, and Aesop bath amenities.

Especially impressive is the tremendous thirty-five-by-twelve-foot indoor swimming pool from the building's YWCA past, which has been re-imagined as the star of the hotel's one-of-a-kind Pool Suite. This unique space is filled with design driven details, a stunning handcrafted ceramic tile mural by local LA artist Ben Medansky, and an inspired mix of vintage and custom furnishings. Designed with an open floor plan for living and dining, the 2,777 square-foot suite includes a separate bedroom with an en-suite bath.

Offering spectacular skyline views from every angle, the multilevel pool deck provides a variety of unique spaces for sipping, sunbathing, and socializing. Only available for in-house guests, the rooftop pool is open from sunrise to sunset.

As a private club in the 1930s, the “physical director” led members through workout regimens in the building’s well-appointed gymnasium. Today’s modern fitness center boasts state-of-the-art equipment designed to support both mind and body. Available twenty-four-seven, the center features separate bathroom and changing areas.
