GoldenEye is not an ordinary hotel, but a collection of private villas, cottages, and beach huts. Each is set amid tropical gardens, private beaches, and secluded coves—a Jamaica home away from home. Set on fifty-two acres of lush landscapes, GoldenEye was once the home of Ian Fleming, where he wrote all fourteen James Bond novels. The creative legacy continues today under the ownership of Chris Blackwell, music icon and producer for Bob Marley. There’s a magnetic quality here that has, for decades, attracted creatives of all stripes. Fleming, who suffered from writer’s block, created the James Bond character while at GoldenEye—and wrote another Bond adventure every winter. Sting wrote the hit, "Every Breath You Take" and Bono wrote the theme song to the GoldenEye film while here. The artists, writers, and musicians from around the world who first visited while Fleming was in residence kept coming when Island Records’ founder, Chris Blackwell, acquired the property during the 1970s. Soon, the original GoldenEye Villa didn’t have enough rooms. So, he began to build. What followed: The Originals, Beach and Lagoon Villas, Lagoon Cottages, and Beach Huts.

Always warm, always clear.

There are freshwater swimming pools at the Bizot Bar and at Shabeen. The GoldenEye saltwater splash pool (yes, it’s shaped like an eye) is at the very tip where Low Cay Beach extends to the sea. And the best pool at GoldenEye is the Lagoon: think of it as a huge pool! Part seawater and part fresh spring water, the Lagoon is always warm, always clear, and almost always completely tranquil. It’s ideal for either splashing around or swimming laps.

Find your natural vibe.

The trees. The plants. The water. The warmth of the wood. The cool, smooth surface of stone. You'll find the natural vibe at the FieldSpa—located in a cottage on the edge of the GoldenEye Lagoon—intensely restorative. It could be the cozy setting of the treatment rooms, nestled in the bush and open to the air. It could be the earthy scent of spices, hanging in the air. The FieldSpa is a natural fit with its environment—and that’s what imparts a deep sense of calm. Massage, meditation, salt scrubs, herbal wraps, and facials are among the treatments they're known for. Many of the botanical elixirs and essential oils used are made at the FieldSpa, drawing on traditional Jamaican recipes and the healing powers of flowers, roots, leaves, and herbs grown at the resort's farm, Pantrepant. GoldenEye is all about fresh, authentic Jamaican cuisine! No matter what you’re in the mood for, there is a variety of dining options—poolside breakfast at Bizot, barbecue at Bamboo Bar, or drinks at Shabeen. On the western arm of Low Cay Beach, Bizot Bar is the spot for stylish, low-key dining. Located just steps from the sea and the freshwater swimming pool, Bizot Bar serves breakfast and lunch that includes fresh salads, yummy burgers, and tasty pastas, as well as famously authentic Jamaican specialties. Very simple, very special, the Bamboo Bar is the resort's laidback rum bar right on rustic Button Beach. With sand underfoot, enjoy the smoky flavors of Jamaican Jerk BBQ along with grilled fish straight from the sea. As soon as their boats pull in, local fishermen bring in their freshest catch. Next to the pool by Beach Huts and Snorkeler’s Cove, Shabeen is the super-relaxed spot for cocktails and drinks. Grab a Red Stripe and wander upstairs to the rooftop lounge and take in a panoramic view of the sea.
