Property Overview

Originally built in the 18th century, Passalacqua is the same place of wonder today for all. This hideaway along the fabled coast is built around the art of "villeggiatura" – a long retreat to a single destination. From check-in to check-out, this hotel's staff ensures that every guest's individual need is met – whether it's remembering your favorite dish to treating you to small, complimentary gifts throughout your stay. Passalacqua features seven acres of gardens descending to a private jetty, swimming pool, and a spa signed by Dr. Barbara Sturm.

Agent Tips

  • For prime views of Lake Como, we recommend staying in Suite Bellini, their expansive suite named after the famed Italian opera composer that looks directly out onto the lake.
  • Be sure to try the spaghetti al Pomodoro by Chef Mauro. Mauro uses artisanal spaghetti from Abruzzo that has been extruded through dies made of gold, and he makes the sauce with three different varieties of tomato.
  • Every day at Passalacqua includes one complimentary class or excursion per day, such as joining their resident florist Daniela for a bouquet arrangement class.
Rooms + Suites

A private villa in the heart on Lake Como that embodies the Italian art of "dolce far niente."

Passalacqua's dreamy accommodations are housed within three different longstanding buildings: the Villa, the Palazz, and the Casa al Lago. All three buildings have their own special personality, with the Casa al Lago being their ultra-private option located right on the water. Every suite is uniquely designed as well, each one decorated in handpicked vintage items from across the world. The moment you walk in, you are met with a curated selection of classic Italian music and panoramic views of the lake from your window.
Pool + Gym

Edged by ancient climbing roses and a magnificent bay tree.

Set on a garden terrace just below the main villa, edged by ancient climbing roses and a magnificent bay tree, the swimming pool is made for both sporty laps and leisurely dips. The pool area, designed in collaboration with the joyful art of La Double J, also features a Winter Garden, hosting an all-day bar.

Nestled among the park terraces, burbling fountains, and centuries-old trees, guests can enjoy an open-air gym in the olive grove and a lakeside tennis court. Staying at Passalacqua gives guests an all-access pass to life at the villa, whether that means perfecting your volo shot on the bocce court or taking a Yoga class beneath the magnolias to start your day.
Spa

Melding Como country style with a touch of decadent mystique.

The Spa in the Palazz, with products by Dr. Barbara Sturm, feels like its own sanctuary within Passalacqua. Melding Como country style with a touch of decadent mystique, the lounge and treatment rooms pay homage to a golden age of travel and relaxation. But Passalacqua’s most surprising Spa discovery lies underground, where you can find a secret sauna and steam bath made from the vaulted stone chamber that is the gallery’s most atmospheric feature.
Restaurant + Bar

Like dining with a family friend.

Passalacqua adopted a unique approach to dining that embodies Italy's reverence for food, inviting guests into an environment that feels like dining with a family friend. Guests are invited to dine in various areas, from their classic dining area set with internationally sourced vintage dishes and silverware to secret cellars found across the property. The key to their menus is simplicity: respect for good, fresh, seasonal ingredients found in their garden on property, and using those to elevate classic, rich Italian dishes.

Passalacqua's snug and stylish bar celebrates northern Italy’s vibrant cocktail and aperitivo scene and the gentle art of conversation. The bar is adorned with original touches from the 18th century, including the original family crest that inspired the present-day hotel's insignia. Alex the Barman is there to concoct drinks tailored to your specific taste pallet. The signature cocktail is the Lavender Gin Sour, a refreshing take on the gin sour with a lilac hue that celebrates Passalacqua’s timeless charms and quintessential Italian lifestyle.
