Singita Kataza House is set right on the edge of Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park, where more than a third of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas find refuge in high-altitude cloud forests. This contemporary and richly textured private villa was designed in response to its remarkable location in this unique slice of Africa. The use of striking local materials like volcanic rock, river stone and oven-red clay bricks connects the structure to its setting.

Designed for exclusive use, guests can enjoy relaxed freedom and quality time together in this secluded sanctuary. The villa is serviced with a private chef and host, and amenities include exquisite open living spaces, indoor and outdoor replaces, pools, a gym and media room. Guests are also able to access all facilities of the nearby Singita Kwitonda Lodge, including its impressive onsite garden and nursery.

Kataza House offers gives guests the relaxed freedom to enjoy quality time together in a secluded sanctuary that features every conceivable creature comfort. The villa sleeps eight people in four suites which include indoor and outdoor massage/wellness treatments, a swimming pool and heated plunge pools, open living and dining spaces, and indoor baths and showers.

Every creature comfort is taken of including great amenities such as a heated pool at the main lounge and a private heated pool at the master suite. A fully equipped fitness centre is available for guests’ convenience.

Location

Singita Kataza House is set on 178 acres (72 hectares) on the edge of Volcanoes National Park, in northwestern Rwanda. Relative to the population and the intensive use of land for farming food crops, a 178-acre pocket of land in a country the size of Rwanda is highly prized.

The location of Kwitonda Lodge puts gorilla trekking within easy reach, and daily hikes to observe gorilla groups in their natural habitat in the Volcanoes National Park are led by expert guides.

Gorilla trekking permits need to be secured in advance and Singita can assist guests with this.

Daily trek groups allow for eight people per gorilla family per day, and the age limit for trekking is 15.
