Six Senses Duxton is housed in a Heritage building reimagined by acclaimed British designer, Anouska Hempel. Art deco flourishes with plenty of dark and jewel tones as the backdrop to custom-designed furniture. The design here makes this a unique and luxurious city bolthole. Six Senses’ focus on wellness is also evident in the welcoming “Singing Bell” ceremony and thoughtful turndown amenities, from Tiger Balm to herbal tablets. It’s a boutique property perfect for a city stopover, a place where you can retreat from the heat and bustle of the day.
Contemporary colonial for sophisticated travelers looking for something out of the ordinary in one of Singapore’s buzziest precincts.
Rooms are compact but sleek, like lacquered jewel boxes in either pearly white or oriental black with yellow or red accents. Most rooms have differing layouts due to the heritage nature of the building. Shophouse Rooms are quieter, whilst the Pearl Suite is a favourite, light and bright with pearl-inlaid cabinetry.
Guests can consult with an experienced Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner on site to improve wellness. There is no spa on site yet, but the owners have recently purchased a gorgeous 2 story shophouse just a few steps from the property. It’s anticipated that this will be turned into a standalone spa for guests by the end of 2019. Morning yoga is offered complimentary to guests in the small park behind the hotel.
At Yellow Pot, this vibrant color takes center stage in the restaurant, which offers a menu of authentic and innovative Chinese cuisine. Adjacent is an antiquarian-themed bar serving up Escape To Kaifeng, the hotel’s signature cocktail of Tanqueray gin and chrysanthemum cordial, crowned with a yellow chrysanthemum.
During the design and development of Six Senses Duxton, much care was put into re-creating the hotel with re-utilization in mind. Taking into account the heat and humidity of Singapore, insulated glazing has been applied in order to ensure the energy consumption is reduced as less interior heat needs to be cooled down.
Six Senses Duxton enjoys a heritage and historic setting with a host of activities in the surrounding area to entertain and satisfy the most discerning of tastes. From unique tours and neighborhood discoveries to cultural pursuits and discovering nature, Six Senses Duxton offers something special for everyone.
The hotel is best-suited for couples, solo travelers or friends.
