Hidden in the canyon near Almont, Colorado, Taylor River Lodge is a collection of eight log cabins perfect for exploratory adventure and building strong connections with nature and loved ones. Taylor River Lodge is an ideal setting for beginner anglers to take their skills to the next level. Highly-trained fly fishing instructors will start with an assessment at their casting clinic located on the onsite stocked pond, then find a perfect stretch of the nearby Taylor River to get guests on wild trout.

Six private queen cabins, each featuring en suite bathrooms with steam showers, are thoughtfully accented with pressed wildflower art, antique mining photographs, and rustic lamps built with antlers. Two single-family homes complement the cabins for those visiting with a larger group. A handsome main lodge invites guests to gather in the warmth of a central fireplace, imbibe small-batch whiskey, and throw darts with family and friends.

One of Taylor River Lodge’s most alluring amenities is the dreamy bathhouse, which features a saltwater pool, steam room, sauna, and hot tub. While guests can utilize the onsite strength and cardio gym, they’re more likely to enjoy the plethora of outdoor activities for which the Rockies are so well known. The property features onsite archery and axe throwing, a private climbing wall, a stocked casting pond, and a creek that holds plenty of big trout. In the winter, days are filled with nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking.

The spa’s delicate balance of simplicity and luxury includes a saltwater pool, sauna, and steam room, along with an indoor hot tub. The pool is a sanctuary in itself, and the wellness program allows you to recover from each day’s adventure to prepare for the next. Taylor River Lodge’s exceptional wellness team invites guests to enjoy treatments in two tranquil rooms or try out more unique practices like sound healing and forest bathing. Taylor River Lodge also offers a bi-weekly Morning Wellness class customized with yoga, functional fitness, and stretching to prepare guests for their guided activities. This morning session jump-starts guests’ day and sets them up to maximize their fun.

Taylor River Lodge clears any hustle and bustle out of your dining plans, inviting you to slow down and enjoy decadent meals in the comfort of their own space. Onsite chefs prepare locally-inspired dishes, like Elk Tenderloin and Steelhead Trout served with creative touches and flavorful sides. Try dining family-style at their long table one night, then switch to an intimate dinner for two the next.

The Bar

The main lodge’s bar sends guests to another place and time. A rounded bar with elevated dark leather seats gives guests the perfect view of a talented mixologist’s process in making a flawless Colorado Mule or a Taylor Old Fashioned. Guests can imbibe and chat on dapper leather couches around a blazing fire, or play a round of pool, foosball, or darts in the Copper John game cabin.

Taylor River Lodge is perfectly situated to allow for an adult, family, or corporate adventure. The cabins can also accommodate smaller parties and friends on a by-room basis. The climbing is also fantastic and the angling guides are patient and professional; if you are a seasoned angler or a beginner, they will find the perfect hole to keep you engaged.
