The J.K. Rowling suite features a beautiful sitting room with turret style alcoves and decor inspired by the Scottish woodlands and views over Calton Hill. This suite is where the famous author J.K.Rowling finished Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
The Bowes-Lyon Suite, named for and inspired by former patron of The Balmoral, The Queen Mother (born Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon), aptly blends heritage and modernity, style and character.

With 167 rooms and 20 suites on offer, The Balmoral has an option for all guests to experience a mix of luxury and Scottish heritage. Designed by Olga Polizzi, each room embodies the Scottish landscape with a colour palate of blue and greys, celebrating the country’s woodland, heather-covered hills and lochs within the hotel walls.

Each room is designed to make guests feel at home and are generous in size and decadent in spirit. Every amenity and furnishing is thoughtfully considered, with finishing touches by irreverent Scottish brands, such as Glencraft and Timorous Beasties. The Balmoral Spa features a forty-nine-foot indoor pool designed for both lap swimming and unwinding. The gym is equipped with Technogym cardio equipment, while a separate weight room offers free weights alongside Technogym strength-training equipment. A dedicated personal trainer is available for private sessions and can create personalized training plans tailored to individual fitness goals. A weekly schedule of classes includes Pilates, yoga, and circuit training for guests and members.

Rooted in the rhythms of the Mediterranean, Irene Forte Spa is a serene world of holistic well-being and restorative calm in the heart of Edinburgh. Number One is a culinary landmark within Edinburgh and The Balmoral's Michelin-starred restaurant offering contemporary dining coupled with world class Scottish hospitality. Brasserie Prince marks a unique alliance between the Fortes and Rouxs, two of hospitality’s most famous family dynasties, bringing to life dishes from throughout France using Scottish ingredients to showcase the diversity in cooking and produce from both countries. Finally Palm Court is wet within the heart of the hotel and is the spot where locals have enjoyed the tradition of award-winning afternoon tea since 1902.

Bar

Bar Prince offers beautifully and simply prepared classic cocktails and a menu of French snacks and sharing platters created by the acclaimed Chef Alain Roux. Guests can enjoy a pre-dinner aperitif, sit in the cosy library by the fire for an after dinner drink or sample cocktails at the long, marble bar counter for a fun night out. Meanwhile, Scotch is The Balmoral’s whisky bar, pays homage to Scotland’s national drink. Tucked away from the hotel lobby, Scotch offers the largest collection of single malt Scottish whiskies available to the general public in Edinburgh. The Balmoral is Located at the heart of Edinburgh city centre, meaning exploring the city couldn’t be easier, key landmarks surround (and are visible from) the hotel including Arthurs seat, Edinburgh Castle and the famous Old Town. Located at Edinburgh’s most famous address, No. 1 Princes Street, it is beside the main shopping area and is a landmark thanks to its majestic clock tower that plays an important role in the city’s skyline.
