Which destinations or hotels do you go back to again and again? Why?

The Maldives! Honestly, even the flight gets me excited. Flying over the atolls is a view like no other. Those unreal shades of turquoise, tiny islands dotted everywhere, boats zipping around, and seaplanes buzzing through the sky. You know you’re somewhere pretty special. The beaches are every bit as beautiful as the photos, the marine life is incredible, and we’ve always loved having world-class surf breaks sitting alongside some of the best resorts anywhere. Throw in overwater villas and the relaxed island pace, and it’s not hard to see why I keep finding reasons to go back. Somewhere along the way, the Maldives became a bit of an addiction. Judging by the number of clients who come home already talking about trip number two, I’m clearly not the only one.

Which destinations are you looking forward to visiting? Why?

The Northern Lights—and honestly, I can’t believe they’re still on my list. There’s something pretty magical about the thought of being in the Arctic wilderness, rugged up against the cold and watching the sky come alive with ribbons of green and violet overhead. No photo ever really does it justice, and I love the fact that nature is completely in charge. No schedules, no guarantees—just sitting back and hoping the skies decide to put on a show. Throw in snow-covered landscapes, cosy lodges, and a few huskies, and I’m sold. Ask me again next month, and I might have a different answer, but right now, Northern Norway is definitely having a moment.

What does your perfect vacation day look like?

It’s spring, the morning is slow by design, waking in a character-filled, design-forward hotel that feels rooted in its surroundings. With nowhere urgent to be, I wander through the local neighbourhood for coffee, sitting long enough to people watch, catch snippets of conversation and feel the rhythm of the place. Then I’m back for breakfast and to hear the cheerful good mornings in the local accent. Those small exchanges can make you feel momentarily part of somewhere new.

The afternoon holds a little structure but remains intentionally loose. Exploring nearby villages, discovering something unexpected. Time to wander, to pause, to let the place reveal itself. As evening approaches, the energy shifts. Settling into an aperitif in a beautifully designed hotel bar before a private transfer to dinner, arriving unhurried. Dinner is somewhere with atmosphere, the kind of table that isn’t easily secured and where everyone wants to be; somewhere the room hums and the people watching is as good as the menu.

I love the impeccable style of the French, the history etched into every stone building, golden summer evenings, playing pétanque with my family, enjoying a long lunch with friends and family outdoors, the colours, the sounds, the sunsets—it’s a sensory experience I never tire of.

I’ve long been drawn to Morocco—a place where colour, sound, and design come together in the most captivating way. From the intricate architecture and beautifully styled hotels to the rich history and warm, welcoming people, it’s a destination that feels both vibrant and soulful.

What has been your most memorable travel experience to date?

My most memorable travel experience was an extraordinary journey through Africa, where adventure, wildlife, and human connection came together in unforgettable ways. I had the chance to see the Big Five, watch lion cubs at play, and even visit a lion rehabilitation centre—an experience that touched me deeply, given my lifelong passion for animals. Equally impactful were the personal connections I made along the way: playing soccer with local children and meeting some of the warmest, kindest communities I’ve ever encountered. At night, the Okavango Delta unveiled skies so breathtaking that they remain etched in my memory to this day.

This journey felt like it was more than just a holiday; it was life-changing. I returned feeling profoundly grateful, forever inspired, and reminded of the true magic of travel—its power to connect people, places, and moments that stay with you forever.

Which destinations are you looking forward to visiting? Why?

I’m looking forward to exploring the polar regions—both the Arctic and Antarctica—destinations that feel like the final frontiers of adventure and discovery. Drawn by my love of wildlife, I dream of encountering polar bears, penguins, and seals in their natural habitats, where the raw beauty of nature remains untouched and awe-inspiring.

For me, Antarctica is one of the most unique and extraordinary landscapes in the world, a place of pure serenity where towering icebergs and endless horizons create a peace unlike anywhere else on earth. The Arctic, with its majestic wildlife and remote wilderness, promises the same spirit of wonder and connection. To me, these journeys are not only epic adventures but also privileges—rare opportunities to witness the planet at its most pristine and powerful, and to be reminded of how small yet deeply connected we are within the natural world.

Born and raised in Melbourne, David spent four vibrant years living in Los Angeles in the early 2010’s, where he would delight in playing tour guide for fun on weekends, showing his visiting Australian friends around the city. Their glowing praise for his guided tours inspired him to establish a private touring business upon returning to Melbourne at the end of 2015. What began as a passion project quickly evolved, expanding beyond private tours to encompass all of Australia and New Zealand, as well as booking bespoke hotels and comprehensive travel arrangements.

The challenges over the years of operating a travel business—especially in the early 2020’s—did not deter David’s commitment to his clients. Many of his past guests kept in touch, and out of necessity, David began assisting with their worldwide travel plans to destinations that remained accessible. In turn, David decided to launch his travel advisory business as an affiliate of SmartFlyer Australia.

Having visited over seventy countries, David possesses a wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience, allowing him to relate to his clients’ concerns and questions with genuine understanding. For David, crafting memorable travel experiences brings him immense joy, making his work feel effortless and fulfilling. Which destinations are you looking forward to visiting? Why?

I’ve been fortunate to visit over seventy countries, but I’ve yet to reach Japan, Sub-Saharan Africa, Scotland, or Ireland.

Japan is high on my list for its unique culture—such as geishas and sumo wrestling—the incredible variety of food, and the chance to ski. Sub-Saharan Africa appeals to me because of my deep love for animals and nature. As for Scotland and Ireland, I have ancestral ties on my mother’s side, and I’ve always found people from those countries to be incredibly warm and welcoming whenever I’ve met them during my travels around the world.

What does your perfect vacation day look like?

I strongly believe that the quality of a hotel’s breakfast offering can elevate a stay from great to truly exceptional. That’s why I love to enjoy a long, leisurely breakfast—taking in the atmosphere, appreciating the food quality, and (of course) responding to client emails.

Some of my personal favourites include Eden Rock St Barths, Raffles Singapore, and Carlton Cannes.

I also enjoy immersing myself in the local culture, so a private tour or experience—even just a half-day—is my ideal way to explore a destination and gain insight from a local’s perspective.

Lastly, I value some downtime back at the hotel, where I can catch up on emails or the news before heading out again for a delicious meal and drinks.

Travel was a central theme in Chloe’s childhood, evolving into a decade-long adventure of jet-setting to the world’s most sought-after destinations. During Chloe’s time working as an Executive Assistant to a famous model and influencer, she realized her true calling was travel; her first forays into the industry involved planning trips with extraordinary touches.

As a SmartFlyer travel advisor, Chloe relies on her innate love of planning and attention to detail when tailor-making itineraries for her clients. What does your perfect vacation day look like?

It’s all about maximum relaxation for me! I like to start my day with a gym session or with a run – unless I’m in the snow. In that case, I will try to get outside because there’s something magical about exploring a powder-covered city by foot. Breakfast is a leisurely affair, followed by some beach or pool time to soak up the rays and enjoy a refreshing swim. I’ll freshen up before heading to a late, leisurely lunch, preferably by the seaside with some delicious food (Vongole, if possible) and good vino! And of course, always in good company.

Which destinations or hotels do you go back to again and again? Why?

Italy holds a special place in my heart. I recently had an encounter with a psychic who sensed a strong ancestral connection to Italy, which made so much sense to me. I used to be fluent in the language, so every visit feels like a homecoming. Call me biased, but in my opinion, Italy boasts the world’s finest cuisine and wine, and its diverse offerings ensure there’s never a dull moment! Whether it’s the Dolomites for a charming ski holiday, the rustic charm of Tuscany for a countryside retreat, or the pristine beaches of Sardinia for an island escape – Italy truly has it all!

After twenty-five years as a frontline advisor and business leader for a large travel company, Anne-Catherine had developed such a spectacular client list of movers and shakers, that she was compelled to open her own business, The Little Travel Boutique. Her consultancy focuses solely on crafting clients’  travel plans with the support of the SmartFlyer Australia platform to further deepen her connections within the industry.

Which destinations are you looking forward to visiting? Why?

I’m currently planning a family trip to Egypt and am becoming really enamoured with the destination. With the opening of the new Grand Egyptian Museum, as well as the elevation of Nile River Cruise options, we are enjoying working out the details together and researching what to do. Can you imagine waking up to see the Pyramids outside of your hotel window? What a dream.

Which destinations or hotels do you go back to again and again? Why?

Hawaii is my happy place, and The Halekulani in Honolulu is my “home away from home” there. We usually head to Honolulu to recharge or celebrate a milestone family event as it’s an easy trip and has the perfect blend of beauty, culture, food, and holiday vibes. We try to visit a different island every time, and Kauai, along with the new 1 Hotel at Hanalei Bay, is on our ‘Hotel Bucket List.’ The kids are already asking when we are heading back!

With an extensive career in travel, Louise has been seen sipping champagne under an Uluru sunset, getting lost walking the cobblestoned streets of Europe, accepting offers to ride water buffalo from Vietnamese rice paddy farmers, fishing with local Fijians with broken coat hangers, finding a cold beer on the Great Wall of China in the blistering heat, and even experiencing the Taj Mahal at sunrise.

Louise also has experience booking corporate travel, often partnering with vetted Australia-based companies to provide seamless corporate travel arrangements. She strives to provide highly personalized itineraries that have her clients feeling at home even halfway around the world.

What inspired you to become a travel agent?

Often wearing my heart on my sleeve, my love of helping others has fused with my passion for travel, culminating in experiences that truly move my clients. Whether it’s solo, with a loved one, or even with your whole tribe, my signature is creating memories that never fade. Raising three of my own children has helped me to understand the importance of family travel and aim to create meaningful experiences that my clients will carry forever.

What does your perfect vacation day look like?

A perfect vacation day is a day when everyone gets to tick something off their list. No two globe trotters are exactly the same, and when consideration is given to everyone the results are spectacular! It can change the whole mood of a trip and who knows, you might even find yourself enjoying something you hadn’t even considered trying before!

A natural-born adventurer, Sally has loved seeing new places and being immersed in the outdoors since she was a child. From a young age, her dream was to travel the world. When the opportunity presented itself, she made her foray into the travel industry at just fifteen years old, moving from the sunny town of Noosa to bustling Sydney.

During her time working in travel, Sally has touched all facets of the industry from wholesale to retail to corporate and even teaching at Technical and Further Education, TAFE,  and owning her own agency. Her passion lies in luxury travel has been her focus for the last eleven years. Stemming from her time spent scouting and staying in some of the best properties around the world, it was only natural that Sally would find her niche in the luxury space, allowing her the opportunity to share her knowledge with her clients.

Sally attributes her dedication to her clients to her star sign, Taurus, as she is both tenacious and determined, always going the extra mile. When it comes to personal travel, Sally enjoys properties where she can go to unwind. In her professional life, however, she is always on the go, ready to serve her clients whenever they call. What’s your strategy to overcome jet lag?

I always advise trying to adjust to your new time zone as soon as possible, even if it means staying up late or waking up early. Staying hydrated is also key for a healthy sleep cycle and will help your body adjust to the difference in time.

Which destinations are you looking forward to visiting?

I’m looking forward to taking my family to East Africa next to be amongst the wildlife,  to experience the culture, and, of course, for the adventure and extraordinary landscapes.

Belinda’s love for experiencing different cultures was cemented in her during childhood through family trips abroad. An early memory she still holds dear involved dining in the home of a local Filipino family when her host let out an almighty burp, which she later learned is a sign of appreciation. Much to her parents’ embarrassment, fits of suppressed giggles ensued between Belinda and her siblings; their host, on the other hand, saw the opportunity to entertain the family and kept those burps coming!

After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Sydney, Belinda backpacked around the U.K. and Europe, ending up in Italy where she spent six months immersing herself in the language and culture. Upon returning home to Australia, the natural progression of her career led her to plan travel for others. Beginning her travel career at Flight Centre and moving to Travel Associates shortly after, Belinda has managed three successful businesses, organized conference groups at the Bellagio Las Vegas and Shangri-La Shanghai, and planned dream holidays for many clients.

In 2009, whilst living in country Victoria, Belinda and her husband, Jonathan, started Hentyfarm Wines. Crafting wines made with a European sensibility is rooted in Belinda’s love of both wine and travel, which inspires each itinerary she plans. Today, Belinda and her husband live just north of Sydney on the idyllic Central Coast of Australia where they are happily raising three boys along with dogs, rabbits, ducks, and chickens.
