Alexis Sorkenn New York City 4 Years of Experience Specialties Europe, Multi-Generational Trips, Safari

Known for her impeccable taste, meticulous planning, and seamless execution, Alexis designs bespoke itineraries tailored to each client’s unique travel style.

Long before she knew travel would become her profession, Alexis grew up daydreaming of her next family vacation, constantly researching new destinations, comparing hotels, and carefully mapping out each day of their itinerary. A lifelong knack for the details that transform a trip from good to unforgettable was sparked after her parents handed over the planning reins. While still moonlighting as a travel agent for family and friends, Alexis began planning increasingly ambitious trips as she built a career in corporate America before ultimately founding her travel advisory, 14Pearl.

Today, Alexis applies her aptitude for detail and honed experience to curate highly personalized travel experiences that are as meaningful as they are well-crafted. She believes the most extraordinary trips are defined by the moments you still talk about years later; whether that’s coming face to face with mountain gorillas in Rwanda, learning the art of sushi making from a master chef in Japan, cruising the Amalfi Coast by boat, or hiking beneath Patagonia’s dramatic peaks. Every itinerary is thoughtfully tailored to reflect each client’s interests—but no matter the destination, every trip planned by Alexis weaves unforgettable experiences and exceptional stays together with flawless execution from start to finish.

What has been your most memorable travel experience to date?

I’ve been fortunate enough to explore some of the most incredible places in the world, but gorilla trekking in Rwanda is one of the travel experiences that stands out most. After an early morning hike through a secluded rainforest, my husband and I found ourselves just a few feet away from a family of wild mountain gorillas, quietly observing them go about their day. Seeing the infants wrestle and play, chasing each other through the forest, climbing over the adults was, in a word, surreal, and it’s a memory I’ll forever cherish.

Which destinations or hotels do you go back to again and again? Why?

It may be a popular answer, but I can always find a reason to go back to Italy! There are so many different experiences and traditions depending on the region and season. Between the incredible food, the warmth of the people, and endless history and culture to explore, it never gets old. Hotels I’d return to in a heartbeat: Il San Pietro, Passalacqua, and Forestis.

Travel Tip

  • Don't overplan your itinerary. Some of the best restaurants, hidden shops, and unforgettable moments are the ones you stumble upon during your downtime.
