Growing up as the daughter of a flight attendant, travel has always been central in Courtney’s life.
From domestic journeys at a young age to crisscrossing the globe in college, she was exposed early on to sought-after safari destinations and cultural hubs in Southeast Asia, sparking her curiosity about the world. This fascination eventually led her to New York City, where she immersed herself in the city’s arts and restaurant scenes while launching her career in advertising.
It wasn’t until her honeymoon—coincidentally planned by a SmartFlyer advisor—that she considered transforming her love adventure and ingenue for travel into a career. For Courtney, being a travel advisor is deeply personal, and she reflects on how her role as her clients’ advisor has always mirrored the stage of life she finds herself in. In her career’s early days, her clients were navigating weddings, honeymoons, and celebratory trips to far-flung destinations, craving adventure before starting families.
Now, as a mother of three, Courtney brings a unique perspective to her role, understanding the ins and outs of raising global citizens. One of the most rewarding aspects of her career is demonstrating to clients that traveling with a family is possible and enjoyable—whether through meticulously crafted family itineraries or seamless multi-generational trips.
Visiting Botswana was the most memorable trip I’ve taken, and it was with my family and my now-husband. I’ve been on other safaris, but the amenities of the lodges in Botswana are unmatched, and they’re situated in the middle of a pristine landscape, surrounded by unreal wildlife. We spent two weeks there, with 12 nights dedicated to safari. When I started my career, this trip – as well as my vast safari experiences – informed a lot of my early travel planning.
I can’t wait to take my kids to more exotic and adventurous destinations, where they can be immersed in new languages. I would love to embark on a Rascal Voyage with them since I haven’t had the opportunity to explore Indonesia yet. I’m looking forward to taking them off the beaten path more once it makes sense for those long-haul journeys.
