Irene Panopoulos

The age old saying, “Travel is the only thing you could buy that makes you richer,” is an ethos Irene has adopted in all aspects of her life.

Irene’s love for travel began at a young age, thanks to her first-generation Greek heritage and their annual multi-generational trips to Greece. Through these journeys, Irene developed a deep appreciation for arts and culture, immersing herself in the richness of destinations, both familiar and new to her. As a mother herself, she continues to travel the world with her family, eager to share this appreciation with her children.

Beyond Greece, Irene’s explorations have taken her to the vibrant parks of Johannesburg and to the breathtaking beaches of the Seychelles. Her unwavering passion for discovering new places and experiencing different cultures fueled her desire to create unforgettable trips on behalf of others.

As a SmartFlyer travel advisor, Irene crafts extraordinary travel experiences with the utmost attention to detail. No matter if it’s a long weekend driving distance from home or a three-week multi-continent honeymoon, Irene ensures that every journey is tailored to perfection. What has been your most memorable travel experience to date?

The most memorable trip I’ve taken yet to Kruger National Park in South Africa. We had the unforgettable experience of staying at Singita Lebombo. It was mesmerizing to see wildlife up close in their natural habitat, and the accommodations and service were exceptional. After leaving Kruger National Park, we continued on to Fregate Island in the Seychelles. I still think the beaches are the best and most beautiful I have ever seen.

Which destinations are you looking forward to visiting? Why?

The destination that I could travel to over and over again is Greece. Exploring my roots has been a cherished tradition since I was a child and the chance to bring my own children back is incredibly special. Every year, we venture to new places because. The history and the coastline are equally endless. Part of the beauty of Greece is that there are no two islands exactly alike, so you always get to experience something different. I also enjoy visiting the mainland and learning about its storied history and culture, dating all the way back to antiquity.

Travel Tip

  • Always travel with an open mind, ready to embrace new experiences and take in the local culture. Savor the flavors and unique dishes that each place has to offer. And most importantly, have fun–dance to live music, join a spontaneous street parade, or partake in conversations with fellow travelers. The key is to embrace the moment and let the joy of travel take over.
