SmartFlyer’s 30 Top Booked Properties of 2023

Running our annual report to identify SmartFlyer’s top-booked properties remains a cherished exercise as you – our beloved clients – continue to dictate trends for the industry at large.

Of our top thirty properties, ten were in the Caribbean, four in Mexico, and three dotting the islands of Hawaii…

While European classics like Italy, France, Spain, Greece, and the United Kingdom remain amongst our top-visited countries year after year, in 2023, data on our top-booked hotels tells a slightly, well, sunnier story. Of our top thirty properties, ten were in the Caribbean, four in Mexico, and three dotting the islands of Hawaii – needless to say, the beaches were calling, and you answered. Stateside, mountain destinations beckoned, with a few city stays sprinkled in from New York to Las Vegas.

So while the below list barely doesn’t encapsulate the far-flung multi-stop itineraries SmartFlyer clients delved into across Asia, Africa, Australia, South America, and even Antarctica, we love that this list contains both beloved hotels with over a hundred years of history as well as newcomers. Without further ado, here’s our alphabetized recap of SmartFlyer’s top thirty booked properties in 2023.

Amanyara

Turks and Caicos Islands

Known as the resort for those who want to be a world away within just a few hours from the East Coast, Amanyara sits in the heart of an 18,000-acre nature reserve on the North West Point of Turks and Caicos. Featuring a half-mile private white sand beach, Amanyara’s stand-alone Pavilions boast lovely views – some even offer interior gardens and private pools. We especially love how five of Amanyara’s villas sit directly on the beach; our favorite is the Artists Villa.

Blackberry Farm and Blackberry Mountain

Walland, Tennessee

Named to our SmartFlyer Stateside Hitlist, Blackberry has remained a top contender for a domestic getaway for SmartFyer clients for many years. Split between two distinct properties twenty minutes apart from one another, there’s something for everyone between Blackberry Farm and Blackberry Mountain. The 4,200-acre working farm within the heart of Tenneesee’s Great Smoky Mountains acts as both a romantic getaway and playground for families.

Borgo Santandrea

Amalfi Coast, Italy

Freshly opened in April 2022, Borgo Santandrea has since shaken up the Amalfi coast hotel scene in a big way. Perched above the centuries-old fishing village of Conca dei Marini, the property’s connection to its neighbors acts as a lovely reminder of how sleepy the Amalfi Coast was once. Today, the two owning families behind this project (a three-year renovation from its 1960s bones) have reimagined what a fresh, light-washed hotel in the region could look like. Aside from all forty-five rooms having balconies and sea views, we love the sexy beach club and private beach access.

The Breakers Palm Beach

Palm Beach, Florida

Since opening its doors for the first time in 1896, The Breakers Palm Beach earned its reputation as an iconic Palm Beach landmark. Guests are invited to indulge in the resort’s plentiful amenities including a private beach and four oceanfront pools, ten restaurants, thirteen signature boutiques, and a 6,000-square-foot fitness center, just to name a few. With cozy yet refined design found across its guest rooms and suites, The Breakers ensures guests are engulfed in paradise while also feeling right at home.

Cheval Blanc St-Barth

Saint Barthélemy

As the only property in the Caribbean with Palace distinction, you can rest assured that Cheval Blanc St-Barth will have you feeling like you have all the refinement of Paris along the shores of Flamands Beach. With only sixty-one rooms, guests are welcomed into an intimate haven of French hospitality with a design rooted in tranquil colors and earthy finishings. The property prides itself on discretion and we especially appreciate how all rooms, suites, and villas – many of which boast their own pools – were expertly devised to ensure guests have privacy even when checking in during peak season.

Claridge’s

London, United Kingdom

A visit to the U.K. capital hardly feels complete without admiring the impressive facade of Claridge’s; but only once you walk under the Union Jack proudly flying at its entrance can one understand the magnitude of this hospitality icon. Clients gravitate towards its quintessential British flair, but that’s not to say the property is resting on its laurels. The recently renovated 7,000-square-foot spa required the team to excavate into five floors of London clay, resulting in a stunning center of tranquility evoking Claridge’s Art Deco history. On the exact opposite side of the hotel, our team recently scouted the property’s rooftop Penthouse, filled with 75 works by Damien Hirst.

COMO Parrot Cay, Turks and Caicos

Turks and Caicos

For a taste of Asia just three hours away from the East Coast, we adore COMO Parrot Cay – an award-winning Turks and Caicos luxury resort set on its own private island. Low-key and laid back in the best way possible, the island’s privacy attracts some of the most well-known names in fashion and Hollywood. Boasting over 1,000 unspoiled acres and over four miles of beach, COMO delivers the ultimate barefoot luxury, perfect for families and couples alike.

The Dominick

New York, New York

Positioned on a prime Spring Street address in the heart of downtown New York City, The Dominick is the gateway to all the city has to offer. Enjoy unparalleled views from floor-to-ceiling windows across forty-six floors of spacious guest rooms (starting at 425 square feet, well above average for Manhattan!). The Sohi Suite is located on the highest floors of the hotel with wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows for a real wow factor without even having to get out of bed.

Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Puerto Rico

Built in the 1950s upon fifty acres of the Rockefeller estate, Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is a sanctuary that’s long appealed to the most discerning travelers. Nature has been on center stage since the resort opened with buildings no taller than palm trees; today, that commitment to preserving nature remains with the surroundings and serene coastline offering a harmonious sense of place for guests. We especially love it for wellness-seekers with Dorado’s award-winning spa featuring locally inspired treatments set amidst treetops.

Eden Rock – St Barths

Saint Barthélemy

Nestled on the glistening white sands of St. Jean beach in the heart of St Barths, this island beauty has a jaw-dropping location. Part of the esteemed Oetker Collection, Eden Rock – St Barth’s one-of-a-kind decor, forward-thinking dining outlets, and chic club create an effortlessly stylish Caribbean experience with a French twist. Each room shines with unique artwork, but we especially love the picturesque Rock Rooms, set right on the water.

Kihei, Hawai’i

Just a stone’s throw away from several of Maui’s best golf courses and a handful of luxury boutiques, location is just the beginning in a long list of reasons why clients adore Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea. With a variety of rooms and suites — each with sweeping views of the surrounding ocean, garden, or mountains — it is the perfect retreat at the end of a long day in the Maui sun. If there’s anything we’ve learned this past year it’s the importance of supporting our dear friends in Maui, and we can’t think of anywhere better to start than at Four Seasons.

Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World® Resort

Orlando, Florida

It’s nearly impossible to say “Lake Como” to anyone in the travel industry and not to have Grand Hotel Tremezzo immediately enter the conversation. Located directly on Lake Como in the town of Tremezzo, the property is a family-owned jewel that not only photographs stunningly (you’ve most certainly seen its pool floating in the lake), but it burrows its way into guests’ hearts with each check-in. With under one hundred rooms and suites, a stay here manages to feel boutique while still providing access to a wide range of dining outlets, a curated shop of artisanal goods, multiple pools, a gym, a bar, and of course, a stunning spa.
